The time taken will depend on certain factors:

– The speed at which you walk. If you walk faster, it will take less time

– Your walking style. Things like whether you’re on the toes or on the heels, high heels or flat shoes, etc. It is even possible that while walking in a particular footwear style, your walking speed may be the same as without the footwear! If you want to speed your walking up, run! And if you do that, you will not even notice the 100 meters

The weather condition during your walk also is a factor. For instance, it takes more time in winter than summer because of the increased distance between two points due to the wear and tear of clothing.

One’s body weight is another factor that affects walking speed. A person weighing 100 kg will take more time to walk the same distance as that of a person who weighs 50 kg

However, it is not necessary for one to weigh 50kgs if they want to walk fast. This means that if you are overweight, even if your weight is only 20%, it will affect your walking speed.

Despite all that, let’s get back to the 1.21 minutes! Is that good or bad?

It depends on your perspective! It can be termed as poor when compared with other athletic disciplines like athletics and cycling. But on the other hand, this is the only sport where the participant competes without any equipment and exerts their whole body to win!

Let us try and break down walking time:

Walking covers a distance of 100 meters in about 1.21 minutes or 1 minute 21 seconds. This means that if you walk 100 meters in 1 minute 21 seconds, you will walk 200 meters in 2 minutes 42 seconds (1.21*2), 300 meters in 3 minutes 33 seconds (1.21*3) and so on.
