Unfortunately, many people view spiders as pests that wreak havoc on their houses with their sticky webs. And others are so terrified of them that they scream and flee anytime they appear.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a scent that repels spiders from weaving their webs in our homes? To be sure, many states that there is.

While spiders lack human-like noses, they do have a way of sensing odors. People are correct when they say spiders have eight hairy legs; the hairs on their legs are responsible for detecting odors. Spiders decide whether or not an object is edible as they crawl over it. Additionally, they can tell if a fragrance is the one they hate and will steer clear of it.

What this demonstrates is that an airborne fragrance in a room is ineffective at deterring spiders. To effectively utilize perfume or fragrance to repel spiders, you must coat every surface a spider is likely to crawl through. This appears to be a near-impossible task. At the same time, perfume can repel or kill spiders if enough of the perfume is sprayed on them and also due to its alcohol content as well. Some people have sprayed perfume or cologne on spiders and they did die. So, even though it’s not the most effective method, it can work.

What natural fragrance is repellent to spiders?

Cedar

One method that many swear by is the smoking of cedar incense. According to reports, it’s a stench that quickly sends spiders packing. Naturally, there is no harm in experimenting with any of your preferred incense perfumes.

Mint

Mint is another scent that spiders appear to dislike. Nobody is entirely certain why, but they certainly appear to avoid it. One reason could be because it has an overpowering fragrance, especially when combined with peppermint essential oil as a deterrent. Regardless of the outcome, your home will smell fantastic.

Lime

Lemon is an excellent natural repellent for spiders. Numerous insects, including spiders, despise the citric and ascorbic acid found in lemons, rather than the lemon fragrance. To fight off these eight-legged creepy-crawlies, use the peel of any citrus fruit, such as lemon, orange, or grapefruit.

Rub lemon juice on any areas where you believe spiders could enter your home or create their homes. If the spiders despise it sufficiently, they should avoid it. In either case, your home will benefit from the refreshing scent of lemon.

Lavender

Another unpleasant perfume that our little arachnid buddies are said to hate is lavender. Consider putting a few little sprigs here and there throughout your home. If it does not work, at the very least your home will smell wonderful. One possible adverse effect is that you may feel extremely calm and perhaps sleepy.
