Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundA little flathead screwdriver is all that’s required to pry the key fob in half so you can access the battery.
1. Turn the key fob over after you’ve separated it from the keyring and removed the other keys linked to it.
Press and hold the little black tab on the outside of the fob to release the metal emergency ignition key and slide it out of the way.
2. Set aside the metal ignition key in a secure location.
3. If you’re using a metal key fob, look for two little notches on the bottom edge of the keychain.
4. The tip of your screwdriver can be protected with a tiny microfibre cloth to avoid harming the plastic surfaces.
5. Gently pry apart the fob’s two parts by inserting the blade of your small flathead screwdriver into one of the notches.
6. To separate the two pieces of the fob, re-insert the screwdriver into the other notch and pry once more.
7. Use the little flathead screwdriver to gently pull the previous battery off the socket.
8. Be careful not to damage the metal electrical contacts with the screwdriver’s tip.
9. Insert a new battery with the “+” positive side pointing down and the “-” side pointing up towards you into the battery holder in the rear flap of the fob.
10. Push the key fob’s front and back halves together gently to complete the assembly.
11. Verify that the key fob’s two halves are flush with one another on both sides.
12. The metal ignition key should click back into place once you’ve done this.
13. Put your Altima’s new key fob battery through its paces as you stand nearby and click the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons.
14. If the battery is working correctly, the parking lights must blink and the door locks should open or close as you approach and leave.
