Take advantage of strong odors to attract attention. For a squirrel, spicy or pungent herbs and spices with strong odors such as white pepper, black pepper, and garlic are inherently irritating. Pleasant fragrances such as peppermint, for example, can be justified in the same way. If you want to keep squirrels away from your plants and flowers, spritz them with water first, then dust them with pepper or peppermint oil, as this will deter them.

1. Half-fill the spray container with 4 cups of water and shake it well.

2. Pour a 12-bottle supply of spicy sauce into the water and stir well.

3. Pour 3 drops of liquid detergent into the liquid and stir gently.

4. After the spray bottle has been closed, gently shake it to ensure that it is completely empty.

5. Use a liberal amount of spray-on any garden crops or flowers that you want to draw attention to.

Rather than injuring or displacing them, this will only deter them from devouring your food in the first place.

Squirrels are attracted to screens and sills of windows, so spray them with an animal repellent that is safe for use on them before closing the windows. For a more natural alternative to animal repellant, you might try spraying bitter apple juice on your windows to deter animals from coming in. Bitter apple spray is considered nasty by the vast majority of animals.
