How do I keep ants out of my pavers?

Use pest powder on the paving stones. The little volcano-shaped piles of earth around the patio are evidence that ants are building homes under your pavers. Sweep an anti-ant solution or granules or powder over the pavers, allowing the powder to settle between the pavers.

Why you should not seal pavers?

It is possible that your pavers will erode, sprout weeds and mildew, lose their color, and become loose if you don’t seal them.

Can ants get through polymeric sand?

Polymeric sand hardens when it is exposed to moisture, making it more difficult for ants to mine through. As with any paver system, weed or grass seeds will eventually find their way into the joints.

What sealant is ant proof?

Use clear silicone caulk on the exterior walls to create an ant-proof seal. To learn how to properly use caulk, see the project How to Caulk a Waterproof & Airtight Seal. You may not be able to fill every crack, but concentrating on areas around windows and doors will definitely give you a leg up on the invaders.

Can ants ruin pavers?

It is possible for ants to tunnel through the sand beneath and between your blocks and pavers. As a result, the joints are weakened, and moss and weeds are given a foothold to flourish. In terms of causing damage to patios and walkways, ants are by far the most destructive pest.

Do pavers attract ants?

Installing pavers directly over dirt is an open invitation, not only to ants, but any number of other legged, winged and rooted pests. In addition to a quality install, using the proper joint sand acts as the final line of defense, and reduces the occurrence of ants taking up residence in your landscaping.
