People can easily tell that a skunk is near by because of their smell. Skunks stink and smell really bad because they release stink spray that is very strong. No one likes the way that skunks smell, but it’s just the way that they are.  Skunk are omnivores that can eat just about anything that they find. I’ll go over the eating habits of skunks in this article.

Eating Habits Of Skunks

Various animals and insects are regularly eaten by skunks when there’s an opportunity to do so. Skunks eat meat, chickens, mice, snakes, rabbits, ticks, birds, ants, animals, bees, bunnies, bugs, cats, chipmunks, cicadas, earthworms, fish, frogs, moles, mosquitoes, worms, and wasps. Skunks can eat squirrels, roaches, lizards, mealworms, grub worms, vultures, earwigs, fire ants, voles, baby rabbits, June bugs, Japanese beetles, koi fish, owls, rats, rattlesnakes, and roadkill.

Fruits

Seeing that skunks are omnivores, they will eat fruits that they find. Skunks eat tomatoes, apples, apricots, berries, blueberries, grapes, watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, 

Vegetables, Plants, Fruits, Eggs

Skunks eat asparagus, carrots, acorns, corn, lettuce, kale, zucchini, deer corn, grass, grubs, flowers, flower bulbs, ferns, gardens, lavender, leaves, mushrooms, potatoes, walnuts, and almonds.

Additionally, Skunks eat eggs, duck eggs, egg shells, herbs, hosta plants, hydrangeas, lilies, pepper plants, kumquat, impatiens, iris, marigolds, and sunflower seeds. Skunks can eat quail eggs, bird eggs, turtle eggs, chicken eggs, raw egg, nuts, nyjer seed, hostas, and bird seed. 

Skunks eat roots, wasp nests, your garden, wet cat food, underground bees, vegetable gardens, sunflowers, impatiens flowers, vegetable plants, hornets, gophers, slugs, bees nests, peanuts, and peanut butter.

Some skunks will eat cat food, dog poop, dead animals, ducks, deer, dry cat food, fawns, garbage, honey, hot dogs, and human food. Also, Skunks also eat lawn grubs, marshmallows, nightcrawlers, oats, poop, petunias, pond fish, roses, spiders, termites, trash, toads, turtles, snails, tuna, yucca, veggies, other skunks, yellow jackets, and jalapenos. Skunks don’t like to eat lemons, onion, oranges, orange peels, or avocado.
