Orioles are fully capable of feeding on fruits that they come across or that is fed to them regardless of where they live. Fruits can provide orioles with the essential vitamins that they need. Orioles eat apples, cherries, berries, grapefruit, bananas, apple slices, blueberries, cranberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, mulberries, holly berries, oranges, tangerines, peaches, pears, mango, pineapple, and clementines. Orioles can eat dried fruit, orange peels, orange marmalade, mandarin oranges, nectar, grape preserves, raisins, and tomatoes.
Seeds
Seeds are not a part of the diet of orioles, it’s not what they eat. Orioles don’t eat seeds, sunflower seeds, bird seed, black oil sunflower seeds, thistle seed, from bird feeders, or hummingbird feeders.
Insects
Orioles eat ants, worms, suet, mealworms, bees, bugs, cicadas, caterpillars, dried mealworms, flies, freeze dried mealworms, hornets, wasps, honey bees, monarch caterpillars, mosquitoes, Japanese beetles, and gypsy moth caterpillars.
Sweets
It seems orioles love sugar or anything that is sweet, especially jelly or jam because it boosts their energy. Orioles love to eat jelly, apricot jelly, blackberry jelly, concord grape jelly, grape jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jam, and more.
Orioles don’t eat nuts, peanuts, or peanut butter. Orioles don’t regularly eat at night or after dark. However, orioles do eat flowers, apple blossoms, finch food, hummingbird food, honey, sugar water, mandarins, mandarins, off the ground, other birds, and various insects. Orioles will eat grape jelly all summer long. In the summer or June, orioles will mainly eat insects. In the wild, orioles eat fruits and insects.
