Are armadillos common in Tennessee?

Nashville’s ever-increasing traffic kills more and more of these sluggish, nocturnal mammals. It’s hard to say exactly when they arrived in the state for the first time. Back in 1998, a Nashville newspaper, The Tennessean, reported seeing one. Furthermore, no one is aware of the exact number of armadillos or the extent of their travel.
