Pepper is an all-natural repellent that will repel squirrels and a home remedy can be created for just less than a couple of dollars. Spray bottle mix 2 cups water with one squirt of dish soap, which can act as an adhesive, adhering to shutters made of plastic, without causing harm. Mix 3 teaspoons of powdered pepper (cayenne chili, cayenne pepper flakes) in the spray bottle and then spray directly on the shutters made of plastic. The spray will immediately repel squirrels away from shutters and stop any further destruction. It’s also a good repellent for gardens and lawns which have been damaged by squirrels.

Ammonia:

Ammonia is yet another repellent that can stop squirrels from inflicting damage on your shutters made of plastic. Make a dilute spray-on formula that is safe to use. Spray bottle combines 2 cups water with one cup ammonia (available in any supermarket or hardware retailer). Include a couple of drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to ensure adhesion and then spray on the shutters. Rep every few days till squirrels cease to be an issue.

Mothballs:

Mothballs are an alternative natural repellent to squirrels. Mothballs can be bought by the container from your local hardware store, grocery, or home improvement shop for only a few dollars. You can place a few mothballs inside old socks and place them on the ledge of a window or close to the shutters of your plastic that are damaged. The mothballs are expected to work for a couple of weeks. At that point, you can refill your socks, if needed.
