African Sideneck turtles are a widespread species found in Sub-Saharan Africa. They have been given their famous name because they cannot straighten their neck back into its shell, so it sticks out from one side.
The turtles are usually peaceful, but they get aggressive with some species. When you attempt to put a fish or small reptile in the tank of your African Sidenecks, it will probably get eaten by one of these creatures.
Two different kinds may be living together as long as there is enough room for both tanks (at least 100 gallons).

African Sidenecks can be a bit higher strung than other breeds, but they usually only become aggressive if you pick them up or threaten their space. For this reason, I would recommend not constantly picking up your African Sideneck as it may start to feel threatened and react negatively in return.
