Jewelry and body piercings are best to keep your jewelry at home including the wedding engagement ring. Consult your doctor in case you are unable to get the wedding ring off of your finger. They might be able to apply tape or plaster over your ring to shield it from harm.

Shoes to tie

Choose shoes that you are able to effortlessly slip on and off. Based on the kind of procedure you have it is possible that you will have trouble bending or tying your shoes using your hands.

High heels

It is best to stay clear of wearing heels, particularly in the event of foot or ankle surgery. The high heels can be difficult to walk in and you may have trouble staying in the balance after the surgery.

Tampons

Don’t wear Tampons on the day of the procedure if you are experiencing your period. The hospital should supply a sanitary pad to wear during your procedure. You can wear a tampon during recovery.

Dental appliances Dentures

Remove your dentures or retainers from your braces to avoid the loss of or damage that occurs during surgery.

Makeup

Do not wear any makeup in order for your doctor to be able to accurately examine your skin and ensure your circulation is in good shape throughout the procedure. Cosmetics can cause eye injury if you’re under anesthesia and do not have an eye blink reflex.

Nail polish

Discard nail polish prior to surgery to allow the surgeons to observe the blood flow in your fingers. Nail polish could hinder the pulse oximeter which is a small device that connects to your finger for monitoring your breathing and pulse.
