Do not use lighter fluid charcoal starter fluid or any other accelerant to light a fire in the fireplace. These products are made for very specific applications and shouldn’t be used for fueling the flames of an outdoor fire in part because they are often contaminated with methanol or petroleum-based chemicals that release harmful fumes. Do not use flammable liquids. It is recommended to avoid gasoline, lighter fluid, or other liquids that ignite when trying to light the wet firewood.
